What will the leather facings on the collar of my Wested do?

I know it will obviously look a little different, but will it function any different with the leather on the collar? Will the collar stay up better? I have a Wested but they didn't put the leather on the collar, can a local store do that.And I have one more question, my sleeves are a tad bit short, does anyone know of a place in the U.S. that would be able to lengthen them,I'm weary to send it back to Wested for that cause it will take months to get it back. I would great appreiciate your advice and help. Take care everyone,
