That always pisses me off, too. My theory is that Lucasarts planned on doing a graphic adventure based on Young Indy depending on the success on Fate of Atlantis, but otherwise decided to wait 5 years before releasing the puzzle game, Indy and His Desktop Adventures and yet another 4 years for the Indy action/adventure we all know today.
