I've always felt that it was a clumsy piece of dialog, too Shorty. I'd wager that what Fedora means is that you don't have to be a gracious loser. Like bud-arc! Bwa ha ha ha ha!

PS Maybe it was some foreshadowing. We're supposed to think that Indy carried this grudge for so long, that twenty-six years later, he finally avenged Coronado's grandchildren.
