Indy's hat in Raiders?

I noticed that in Raiders when Marion and Indy are on the boat, Marion takes off Indy's hat and throws it on the ground and then we never see the hat again. Did Katanga give it back or did he lose it? I think when Raiders was made, maybe they didn't even think that his hat would be that important? I don't know, what do you think?
