Personally I think that the rat had historicle significance, like the plagues of Egypt. The Rat was a symbol too I think. It symbolized the rats of Germany during WWII. When the box burns I think the the burning also signifys the plagues again. When the city of Egypt catch fire In the night. And God burned off Evil, the Evil was the swatsica. I hope that hellps alot!!!!!
