Those spikes obviously deploy rapidly and have enough kinetic energy to skewer a human being. Some of that energy could easily be used to trigger a mechanism that will tension the trap anew. That process seems to take a while; maybe once the trap has been tripped water will flow in a large "bucket" that in turn will drop and slowly "wind" the trap. Fall Guy
