Doubleday/Anchor Books published LAWRENCE OF ARABIA The 30th Anniversary Pictorial History (by L. Robert Morris and Lawrence Raskin). It details the production of David Lean's epic (and sure is a big influence on Steven Spielberg). Much of the film was shot in Jordan, and there is a good deal of info and photos of that country. There was even a plan to shoot some of LAWRENCE at Petra, but it was abandoned due to the difficulty in accessing the location. I guess Speilberg found a way, hunh? The book's ISBN # is 0-385-42478-7, if you're interested; I'm sure it's still in print.
As far as travelling to Indiana Jones-esque places; I've been to the jungles of South America and I've walked the streets of Berlin. Does that count?
