I too say wear the hat!

It will generate some looks, but I've found more are out of interest and admiration. It takes some extra self-confidence to do "something out of the ordinary", but if you don't find yourself blessed with that kind self-confidence, you will develop it.

And that is something that will help you elsewhere!
