...these folks here actually expect me to do some work - what nerve!
All observations well made. I found two variations in the original jacket - both surrounding the side straps. Some attach outside the rear panel and use d-rings. Some attach under the panel and use rectangular rings. Could they be from quick repairs done on the set? Could they be from a second batch of jackets Wested had to rush to production? Who knows. The one thing I did note was that the rectangular rings seemed to get more air time. Some sequences show both - the flying wing for one. I'd be happy to get into this more when I have more time...
On the ToD jacket - the Wested ToD that I've seen is exactly the same as the Raiders, except the add one inch. The side straps are attached right next to the handwarmer slit, and the strap securing the rings is under the seam. Compared to Noel Howards jacket, the Wested's pockets are too big, the collar is too big, the stormflap is too wide, basically all the details are exagerated. I have pictures and two independant confirmations from people in the UK who own Westeds and have held Noel's jacket in their hands, all of which support this. Just look at how long the vent is on the bi-swing back - it is clearly about 2 inches long. The Wested is about 5 inches long.
Sometimes I feel like I'm saying the sky is blue, and people keep coming back saying it's green. The horse is dead, but I'm happy to beat it some more - Peter did not make the Temple jacket.

Patterson
