New hat question

I have been told that both beaver and rabbit are the stronger, more durable felt that can hold it's shape really well. From HJ I was told that 100% rabbit fur felt holds better and is durable, while beaver is soft and weak. While I was told from Peter bros that beaver holds beter and is durable, while 100% rabbit is soft and weak. Now I'm throughly confused. Please Indy muses aid me in finding out the truth about felt.
