: Not to be a noodge, but... It wouldn't look very good. IMAX movies work because they're shot in a big-ass special 70mm format. If you showed a 'normal' film like Raiders, the film grain would be overwhelmingly large and distracting, like blowing up a polaroid to a billboard.

Actually, they can show regular movies on IMAX. I was surprised at first, because of the very reason you mentioned, but I saw Resevoir Dogs on the IMAX screen, and it was incredible!
