An observation at an excavation in indygear

I love delving into a site and being buried with information....

Anyway, I am reading the section about where the props and authentic gear are, and at the Smithsonian, the fedora was 7 1/4. Is that Harry's size? Because it's mine too.
Any thoughts? Was his jacket also really a size 38-40?
