Hi-Power Pistol theory

Would I be correct in thinking that Raiders was set in 1936..? Then why would a Fabrique National Hi-Power P-35 not be correct for the period...? Wouldn't the '35 refer to the year...? He was, after all a Belgian soldier, and could have become attached to their issue weapons. I think that Browning himself died in 1926, so possibly it's an even earlier model FN pistol on the same design...?

Any thoughts...?
