: Pending the widescreen reissue of the Indy trilogy, what would YOU rather listen to, the Paramount tradition of Dolby Surround, or that AND THX? I vote for THX. Also, who thinks Paramount should jump on the DVD bandwagon so 1) a lot more good movies will be available (this goes for Twentieth Century Fox, too) and 2) we can view Indy with all the advetised DVD amenities?
: Without a doubt, watching the Indy-series movies in DVD would be a treat. I think that just hooking a DVD player to the TV doesn't really capture all the advantages though. The best option would be to connect the DVD player to an A/V receiver that has AC3-Digital decoding capability and run the sound out to a home theater speaker system instead of through the TV speaker(s). Unless you have those speakers (front left, center, front right, bass module, rear left, rear right), you're never really going to exploit the true potential of DVD regardless of whether it's Dolby Digital or Lucas' THX. Dolby Digital, instead of Dolby Surround, is the way to go. However, beyond that, I'm not that much of an audiophile or own a bank to be too interested in a THX format. Those THX systems can run in the thousands of dollars (U.S.). -MP
