: do you think there is enough people out there selling all or mostly indiana jones stuff that a collectibles show could be done? could we organize one? would it be worth the effort?im sure we could get somebody related to the movies to show up and maybe an auction, a filming of all the movies, trading amongts ourselves. is there really enough out there to do a show and is anyone willing to undertake the job of organizing it...just a thought. i would love to hear what everyone else thinks.
: p.s. even though it is my post, i am a lousy organizer
I've organized campus-wide events for thousands of people and helped organized higher education and leadership conferences at my former university. If others think it is worthwhile, I'd be delighted to help organize it. This sounds as though it would be large enough to require not just one organizer but a committee, with different people doing different things. The first problem would be seeking sponsorship-we would need to attract vendors to pay a fee to come sell their wares, and perhaps we couldn't afford to be so restrictive as to allow only Indy merchandise. We could allow people with Star Wars merchandise, etc. If we are to attract anyone from the films (especially the big man himself) we need to be able to afford a speaker's fee. The second obvious task after raising monvey is to scout locations (hotels most commonly, for a multi-day event), and we'd have to rent space and pay them to reserve rooms at a special rate for our conference goers. Often times, we would need to pay for food and pay the hotel's waitstaff extra as a tip for providing service. We would need money for banners, advertisement, etc. All of this sounds like a lot, but it is just the tip of the iceberg. However, I wouldn't have responded as I did if I didn't think it could be done if we were enterprising enough. (I'm stubborn). Who else out there is stubborn? Perhaps we could share emails with each other -those of us interested in seeing if it is possible-so we don't clutter the forum with discussion. We can form a work group list and every email we send, we send to the group. Of course anyone new who wanted in we could try to include (to a degree-we can't have TOO many people or it will get sloppy). Suggestions from here?
