I don't wear the hat on planes. I work for an airline (not Northwest) and therefore fly standby. I usually try to finagle my way into first class, but it doesn't always work. Let me rephrase that: It usually doesn't work. If I was in first class, I could just ask the flight attendant to see to it if I wanted to doff the sombrero, but in the back of the plane with the hoi polloi there isn't any place to stow it if I want to take it off for a nap or whatever.
