An interesting point you bring up.
In ROTLA, almost all of the Nepal/Cairo scenes feature the same hat, readily identifiable by the big upturn on the stage-right side of the hat (left side to TV viewers).
This hat has a HUGE downturn in the front of the brim; not so much a roll, but a severe 60-degree-ish turn.
This hat, with it's squared top (looking head-on) as opposed to the normal camel-hump of the rest of the hats, is my fave.
In my opinion, on of the features of the hats with the downturned/flat back (now we're back on topic :-)) is that it accentuates the roll up of the sides...
If you like that kind of look (I do personally), then it's a big benefit.
The LC hats have a much more upward curve to the rear brims and that is a reason I find the Indy Miller a good choice for that style...
