To be very honest with you, there really isn't one. You'll have to see what works best for you, as this one item is specific to each individual. The ratio cut that works on, say, Patterson, doesn't work on me at all. Why? We're built completely different. The fedora with the cut that he likes just doesn't work with my face or build. The 2 3/4 X 2 1/2 works very well on my face, but on another individual it doesn't work at all. One of the writers here says he uses the cut, but only a quarter of an inch is taken away and he achieves the perfect brim for him. Wish I could just say "this is it, and go with it", but it's really what works best on your head and with your features. Experiment with an old fedora, start with small subtractions of material to see what looks best on you. You may determine that no cut at all is what works. You won't know until you try. Regards.
