The "hard" finish I refer to is the usual after blocking laquer application that holds the shape, and makes the felt a little more water resistant. The velour is a finer brushed felt that raises the "pounce" of the felt, and softens the shape of the hat itself. The Poet is offered in either finished felt, according to their catalog. And yes, I now remember the message you're referring to, but that is the only one I remember. I believe that was the only one I've read singing the praised of the White fedora, too. Regards.
