: I recently purchased a whip, and would like to know if there are any books on the subject. I would appreciate any help.
: I would also like to know if it is possible to install a new fall on a whip that doesn't have one.
: Thanks again.

Hi Jonathan, There are a couple books out that can tell you some basic stuff. However you are better off going with some of the instructional videos. They will give you a better understanding of whip cracking as well as be able to show you the technique rather than just trying to explain it. There are many good videos available, both Whip Cracking made easy parts 1 and 2 are a good start. The art of the Bullwhip is another good one, but it is more for show than instructional. They are all available at http://www.davidmorgan.com and http://www.mark-allen.com for around $20 each. The books are available from both of them as well. Anthony Delongis also sells a set of his instructional bullwhip videos at his web site http://www.delongis.com They cost a little more but they are very good and extremely informative.

Sure you can have a new fall put on your whip. The style of bullwhip you have will depend on what type of fall you want to put on it though. Meaning if its an Australian style bullwhip you will want to go with a Australian fall and if you have an American style bullwhip you are better off adding a good American fall. New Australian falls are available from both David Morgan and Mark Allen. Marks Company also has American style falls available, although they are not listed in the catalog. David Morgan also offers a very affordable fall replacement service, and his book Whips and Whip making shows a step by step instructions on how to replace several different styles of whip falls and whipcrackers.

By the way, as already mentioned be sure to check out the Bullwhip FAQ, its packed with lots of great information. Hope this helps, If you have any more questions let us know.

Dan
