G-8 NOT A-1 as inspiration for Indy Jacket

Doing some concurrent research on Navy flight jackets I came across this image of the Navy G-8 flight jacket. Along with the copy on this website, it seems like a very, very, similiar jacket and possible inspiration for the Indy Jacket. More of an inspiration and starting point than the claimed A-1. Patterson? What's your thoughts?
