The zipper has been one of those things people have been a bit picky about. In most scenes where you can make out the zipper at all, it appears silver. Wested has been pretty much sticking to brass, and that is all you can get from US Wings. Today, brass is argued to outperform all but possibly the more expensive Talon nickel-plated brass zippers. Also, the nickel is less environmentally friendly.

Now the zipper on the original was a different story. It was in fact aluminum, and very cheap. It had teeth missing and the metal was very soft. Along parts of the zipper, you could clearly see the remains of brass paint - they apparently wanted it to look brass. So, it is one of those things that can go either way.
