If Indy was an EAGLE scout, why's he wearing a LIFE scout patch?

A friend of mine (who is a boy scout) commented to me the other day or so about Indy being a Life Scout. When I insisted he was an EAGLE scout, (I recalled hearing that Steven Spielberg based the LC opening on his childhood memories) he insisted I was incorrect. Well, after watching the movie and drawing the patch (a red heart with yellow stuff inside it), I saw that it WAS the LIFE scout badge.
*blooper!*

........or am I just wrong?:-(
