Did you guys have your Westeds made to order after taking exact measurements, or did you order your regular sizes? I supplied my measurements (I double-checked with a well-fitting jacket), and I got exactly what I ordered in terms of actual size. I expected to get a (British) size 44, but the jacket said 46 on the tab. This was interesting, because I had a bunch of European jackets, and they all were a EU size 54, which converted into a British size 44 (according to conversion charts). It looked as if the Wested was labeled one size larger than it actually was... I have added to the confusion, havent I?
In terms of fit, I think it makes sense that you can wear a thin sweater or thick shirt under it. But remember, that jacket is pretty tight once you zip it up (try lifting your arms without the jacket riding up your back!), and it looks best when worn open.
