Private collector snaps up Sean's prop from Last Crusade

A small prop used by Harrison Ford and Sean Connery in the last Indiana Jones movie was sold at auction for more than £17,000 yesterday.

The Grail Diary, used by the archaeologists in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, had been expected to fetch just £9000 when it was sold by London based auctioneers Christie's yesterday afternoon.

But the diary eventually went for almsot double that, stunning auctioneers. A spokeswoman for Christie's said: "The diary went to a private collector. It sold really well at auction and was eventually bought for £17,625"

And Indy's whip from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was sold for £12,925, three times its expected price.
