Why Harrison Ford dropped Jack Ryan; pure speculation

When it comes to reprising roles Harry has only done so on two other obvious ocassions. Indy and Han Solo are characters of depth, designed with room to grow as their stories unfolded. And grow they did. Throughout the Clancy films the character of Jack Ryan remains realativly unchanged. Maybe he just grew tired of the character? I don't mean to step on any toes, I've never read the novels. I'm only going by how I've seen the character portrayed on the screen. But since Harrison is dealing with a script and not the actual novel I suppose that's all I'd really need to make this particular point.
