In Reply to: I already did this to my right boot with a couple dabs of super glue on each side, and it worked fine. (NM) posted by Indiana Jimmie on February 09, 2001 at 00:24:11:
: : If the tongue moves for you, the fix is fairly simple. Go to your local shoe repair shop and ask them to 'tack' the tongue on the left and right sides. (
: : They should know what this means - it basically involves them sewing some stitches between the upper and the tongue)
: : This will anchor the tongue in its center position. It works very well for any shoe type with this problem. An especially adept shoe-repair shop can tack through the stiching in the upper yield no additional externally visible result.
: : BTW, the Alden boot is thought of as a work boot, not anything else.m So if you're looking for an outdoor boot, it's not the right call. However, for anyone with foot problems, Alden is a *great* choice. They can do your feet right. But they're not made to compete with Chippewa or whomever (was it Danner) -- different missions...
The 405 is also available with Vibram soles, making it more adept at outdoor activities, but it does alright for a smooth soled boot as is. I will not hold like good old Chippewa's if you're tramping through boggs, though.
Cheers!
