Did you know that during the War of 1812, Oliver Hazard Perry built the Niagara and the Lawrence in Erie, Pennsylvania, but wasn't able to steer them across a hidden sandbar? So he constructed wooden camels (floating drydocks) around each of the ships and pumped in enough water to float them safely over the obstructions. And then...Wait a minute. This stuff IS useless!
