I'll throw it out there anyway -- there is such a thing as a hat stretcher. My fedora is a 7 1/2 and was feeling a bit tight. I took it down to the only cleaners in town that block hats and they stretched it out to a 7 5/8 for me. Fits my big head great now. I would assume Indy made regular visits to his local haberdashery and had the ol' chapeau blocked and stretched.
