I felt compelled to see how the FS goatskin handles water:
I drew an outline of the sample leather swatch on a piece of paper.
This would serve later to see if any shrinkage occurred.
Test 1:
I soaked the chrome goat swatch in cold tap water for 15 minutes. Then
I removed it from the water, shook off the excess water, and let it
air-dry. No shrinkage, the leather was still soft.
Test 2:
same as Test 1; still no shrinkage, the leather was soft.
Test 3:
30 minutes in lukewarm saltwater; after that period the leather swatch
was carefully rinsed for 10 minutes to wash out as much salt as
possible. Then I let it air-dry: some of the brown dye stuck to the
paper on which the swatch dried, but there was still nop shrinkage and
the leather is still soft.
What could I do next? Shoot at that swatch with a small caliber
handgun? ;)

PS: The chrome goat is growing on me..
