I'm afraid I might have done a terrible injustice to my Wested's
lambskin. It was finally getting a "distressed" look to it from
normal wear, so I thought it about time to treat it. I used pecards
on it because I thought I read in a post by Michaelson (forgive me
if I'm misquoting) that it helped even out the grain. One thing that
always bugged me about my coat is the right sleeve has a
bigger grain near the cuff and it wrinkles different than the rest of
the coat.
Anyway, I put on the pecards, let it sit for a day or two, went back
and was shocked! My coat went from a dark brown to now
looking almost black! All of the scuffs and "wear" are now gone
and it looks like a new black coat. I was still VERY tacky, even
after rubbing off excess yesterday. I put it in the dryer in some old
sheets and that seemed to help the tackiness, but not the color
or scuffs.
Is there any thing I can do to get it back to the way it was, short of
acetone - I'm not too sure I want to "experiment" with the
chemical treatments? Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.
