: As an Alden alternative you can give the Clark desert boot a go. The shoes look a little like a well worn pair of 405's. They were originally manufactured for British troops in the African campaign for WW2. Compared to the 405, they are a much lighter boot, lack the moccasin toe and have a funny gum rubber sole. Not a bad shoe for walking but not heavy enough to be considered a work boot. They would doubble as an Indy boot in a pinch. My local Clark outlet store was selling them for around $70.00 a pair. http://www.clarksusa.com/men.asp?view=cat&catid=4&start=94
: I have 'em! They are a bit too light and flemsy for serious adventuring, though. Cheers! -29yr.old Indy
