in answer to your question:
I did all the reshaping by hand after wetting the hat with cold
water. Hot water or steam might shrink the felt. The more water,
the easier to reshape.
First I put on the hat to reshape (it keeps the shape better if you
reshape while wearing. I then pushed the side dents back
further, and it straightened out the taper. for the brim, i kept
pushing the hat in at the temples (sides of my head) with my
middle fingers, whilst turning up the sides a bit underneath the
brim with my thumbs. This raised the sides of the brim to get the
curl. I also curled the sides of the brim up more afterwards.
Finally, if you look at the side of the hat in the beginning in the
movie right before Indy goes in the temple, or right after he
pushes Satipo up against the wall, from the side the brim has
like an upside-down "v" shape-it's hard to describe, but watch
and you'll see what i mean. anyway, i emphasised this crease
and that finished the brim up nicely. After reshaping, I let it dry
upside down overnight. I didn't have to do anything to the top as
far as the crease and heart shaped bumps-they were fine
already.
Hope this helps!

How did you get the look for the temple scene to make it look like
that? What did you do?
