: They were 11 1/2 EE's. If you are considering buying some, you should talk to a salesperson just to get the size right. At the same time asking about the color couldn't hurt. I would doubt that the leather has anything to do with the price increase. Both pairs were extremly well made.

Mine were 11B's, though so were my older pair. As I understood if, from Gary White of the Alden shop, Aldens had a time obtaining new leather for these 405's, and this is what they're being made of now. No complaints here, but they're definitely different. Regards. Michaelson
