Help! To Patterson re. dimensional brim cut

Hi Patterson, I am reading on Indygear your article on how to cut
a dimensional brim, but I dont understand what you mean,
especially the part about using the thumb and forefinger as a
guide. I get the part up to making the first two chalk lines as
indicated by the 2 red lines in the photo, but what do I do after
that?
