Has anyone made a whip? Either with leather or nylon rope?

Good Evening Indy Fans!

Just checked out the links at IndyGear on saw the Bullwhip homepage. Saw how to make a cheap whip out of nylon rope. Got about 40 feet of nylon rope and it made a 5 foot whip. I am able to do a foward crack very nicely and it wraps around a tree nicely also. A friend was actually able to swing on it and it did not snap. I will definately be able to get into cracking. But I am just wondering who of you has made a whip either out of leather or nylon rope or any other material? I want to make a 8 or 10 foot whip. I plan to go to get some more rope but this time a softer rope and longer. The stiff nylon rope seems to be a little too stiff and with the softer rope hopefully it will move better. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Only one more month til the gun show...
