I have a new lambskin raiders, and I first treated it with Lexol. After a month, and some wear and soaking in rain, it got kind of stiff and I tried Pecards leather dressing, the paste (not the lotion, which is similar to Lexol) and it worked great -- the leather felt thicker and it definitely soaked it fine -- when it is brand new, the Pecards paste may not soak in well --
As for the straps, I just pull them to make them tighter -- they may stretch a little, but so what -- they are not delicate, in my experience, and the stitching is not going to rip out --
Enjoy your jacket -
