It's a Yankees cap, and it may very well be of the 8 panel variety. Modern caps are constructed with 6 panels, but they used to be made with 8- they slouched a lot more. That's the style Babe Ruth wore and is mentioned in another post.

Don't know when they shifted to the modern style.
