I used Testors paint on mine... i believe it was Aluminum or Steel. I'd have to check.
Basically, i coated the gun lightly with Flat black spray paint first, then dry brushed the steel color on evenly over the whole gun. The i VERY LIGHTLY dusted it with a flat black spray and then gave it an even lighter dusting of flat gray spray paint.
After that i lightly dry brushed the highlights with the steele color.

worked great!
