Yep, he was great in "Stand By Me," but Rob Reiner stole his thunder in that one. In the book ("The Body"), River's character pulls the gun on Ace and the big boys, not Gordie. Mr. Phoenix could have kicked even more butt, but it just didn't get scripted that way.
If you should see a bear, the disembodied ghost of a missing kid, or even a garbage can, let's be careful out there.
