I have worn my 405's on extend hikes of Europe and New England where I have literally had them on my feet for days. I also wear a pair to work every day where I am on my feet constantly. They are an excellent shoe but can bit heavy on the feet until your legs and feet adjust to the added weight (especially if you are accustom to a lightweight dress shoes or tennis shoe). Once you adapt to the added weight of the 405, you will probably find that other shoes feel very uncomfortable in comparison. I have had no problems with traction in the shoes but they are a bit slick on mud and snow. The only places they don't perform well are with airport metal detectors and white water rafting. They are a bit too heavy for water use.
