You are right. DM plaits his Turks knot with three strips of kangaroo lace, most reproductions only use two. The white hide fall is also a give away. Still a very nice bullwhip, I have a good hunch who made it, though it was probably originally acquired through Mark Allen's Western Stage Props company. Hope this helps
