Mel's on Sunset isn't the one used in American Graffiti; that one was (is?) in Burbank. The one on Sunset is part of the same chain & has plenty of history in it's own right & I eat there every time I'm in Hollywood. The redheaded waitress with the attitude & huge...ummm, fertility idols..doesn't hurt things either.
