For ET they may have a sound archive they dip into. It couldn't hurt to drop their PR department an e-mail/phone call and ask, or even try to get the number of their post-production facility...probably only to find out that it's done by 6-year olds in China mind you, but it's worth a shot.
Another option is going to sounddogs.com (if the URL is wrong, try variations on the spelling, you'll get it) and you can, I believe, purchase sound effects on a regular basis from their library. If you haven't heard of them, they're a pretty big post sound company, that worked on everything from Requiem For a Dream to Dungeons&Dragons...they'll more than likely have a good whip sound in their archive.
