Nicholas Meyer wrote a few other Holmes stories, I think. I've only read the Seven Per Cent Solution myself. While The Whitechapel Horror was a tad graphic and (ugh!) written in the third person rather than the first, I still found it to be a good layout of the Ripper murders. I highly recommend it; just don't eat dinner before setting down to read it!
There was also a Holmes short story collection that was written by various famous writers; I can't recall the title. Steven King wrote an interesting piece. I'll try to hunt up the title for you.
