Both run pretty normal. I'm somewhere in between a large and an X-Large in shirts - so I bought one in each size, both of which fit fine. In shoes, I wear a 9.5 in sneakers and the Engineer Boots in 9.5 fit perfectly. If you like a snug fit in boots, I would go with a half size smaller. Medium weight socks go best with the Engineer boots. I love mine! They can take a beating!
