At least you're well prepared for a trip to New Zealand. ;) There they spray arriving tourists!
Oh, and don't think paranoia is unusual. Here in the US they won't let people who've lived in Europe for a certain time (depends on where they've stayed) let donate blood.
Also, at every country fair that has livestock, you have to walk over antibacterial mats (like at many international airports) while little Sally got cow snot on her face and is eating a hotdog.
In the US you can't even bring perishable foods from one state to another!
