Before getting too far, take a good look back there with a flashlight and determine what types of connectikons you have and what is input and what is output. Are you sure you don't have a yellow-video as well as Red left, and white-right cables, beside your coaxial cable? If you do, then use that setup, ie three outputs from the dvd - video, left audio and right audio. If you do not, then just use your coaxial output from your dvd to the coaxial input on your tv.
I really doubt you have a coaxial input, and left audio/right audio inputs without a straight video input to go with it.I suspect if that is the case, then the right and left audio are output cables.
Do NOT buy any S video type conections. They won't work.
