Especially if done by somebody like the Wayans Bros (I'm goon get you, Sucka, In living Color). However, as a serious movie, it would make absolutely no sense. Witness "Wild, Wild West", Sorry, but James West as a black man doesn't work, because a black man during the 1870's just didn't have the leeway available to him as much as a white man, same for a woman, or any other minority. Not being racist, just unfortunately facts from history. As Indiana Jackson, overseas during the thirties, a black man would have realistically in most places, been okay. But forget the American South! Didn't matter how brilliant a mind (Goerge Washing Carver, for example), the U.S. was just too racist at that point. You can try to PC history all you want, it still won't work.
