At least not entirely. The book was written in the late 1800's and was actually a very entertaining read. The film, however, was drastically warped and introduced elements into the story that could not be found in the book- namely a female lead character. For the film, King Solomon's Mines was a huge ripoff, but had they stuck to the book, it is entirely original and one of the first great adventure novels.
The Barkeep.
